01

General information

Content published on WhiskyBark is provided for general educational and informational purposes. It is intended to help dog owners explore topics such as behaviour, enrichment, everyday activities and life with dogs.

WhiskyBark content should not be treated as personalised professional advice simply because an article, guide or tool appears relevant to your dog.

02

WhiskyBark is not veterinary advice

WhiskyBark does not provide veterinary diagnosis, treatment or individual medical advice. Information on this website is not a substitute for advice from a qualified veterinarian who can examine your dog and consider their medical history.

If something seems medically wrong: contact a qualified veterinarian rather than relying on a WhiskyBark article or interactive tool.
03

Behaviour needs context

Dog behaviour cannot always be interpreted from a single signal. Posture, movement, environment, history, health and the situation around the dog can all affect what a behaviour may mean.

Behaviour information and tools on WhiskyBark are designed to help you observe patterns and consider context. They cannot determine with certainty what an individual dog is feeling or why a particular behaviour is occurring.

Serious, persistent or potentially dangerous behaviour should be discussed with an appropriately qualified veterinary or behaviour professional.

04

Interactive tools are guides

WhiskyBark includes interactive tools such as the Dog Age Calculator, Walk Generator, Body Language Decoder and Enrichment Generator.

Results from these tools are generated from the information you provide and the rules used by the tool. They are intended as practical guidance, estimates or ideas — not as professional assessments.

For example, a human-age equivalent produced by the Dog Age Calculator is an approximation and should not be interpreted as a medical measurement of a dog's health or expected lifespan.

05

Enrichment and activity ideas

Activities suggested by WhiskyBark are general ideas. An activity that is appropriate for one dog may not be appropriate for another.

Consider your dog's age, size, health, physical ability, temperament, training, environment and previous experience before trying an activity.

Modify or stop an activity if your dog appears uncomfortable, distressed, physically unable to participate safely or likely to swallow or damage an unsuitable object.

06

Every dog is an individual

Breed, age and size can provide useful context, but they do not completely predict an individual dog's health, personality, behaviour, preferences or abilities.

WhiskyBark encourages observing the dog in front of you rather than assuming every dog will respond in the same way.

07

Safety and supervision

You are responsible for deciding whether an activity, object, environment or suggestion is appropriate for your dog and circumstances.

Dogs should be appropriately supervised when using toys, food puzzles, household objects or other enrichment materials, particularly where chewing, swallowing, entanglement, injury or interaction with other animals or people could present a risk.

Follow applicable local rules when walking, travelling with or exercising your dog.

08

Accuracy and changing information

We aim to make WhiskyBark content useful and accurate, but information about dog care, behaviour, research and recommended practices can develop over time.

We may revise, expand or remove content as the website develops. We do not guarantee that every page will always be complete, current or applicable to every situation.

09

External websites and resources

WhiskyBark may link to third-party websites, studies, organisations, products or other resources where they may be useful to readers.

A link does not mean WhiskyBark controls or guarantees the accuracy, availability, safety or practices of the external website.

10

Using WhiskyBark responsibly

You are responsible for how you use information, suggestions and tool results from WhiskyBark and for deciding when professional assistance is appropriate.

Nothing on the website can account for every circumstance involving an individual dog, person, environment or medical condition.

11

Changes to this disclaimer

This Disclaimer may be updated as WhiskyBark adds new content, tools or features. When meaningful changes are made, the date shown at the top of this page will be updated.
